sFTP - Additional
Security for nuBridges FTP Server and FTP Client
nuBridges offers an optional SSH module that
runs natively on IBM i for customers who want to add SSH
encryption to file transfers performed by nuBridges Exchange
i FTP Server or FTP Client.
Unlike standard FTP, sFTP uses SSH protocol
to form a secure channel that encrypts both commands and
data so nothing is transmitted in the clear including login
ID’s and passwords, the data payload and the session
information. Both server and client need to be SSH-enabled
in order to communicate via SSH.
sFTP file transfers protect against
network-level attacks, connection spoofing and password
reading. SSH is ideal for providing strong authentication
and secure communications over unsecure Internet channels.
Features of the SSH module include:
- Firewall Standards-based - complies with the SSH
2.0 protocol standard
- Automated handling of non-secure inbound files
based on rules you define – for example if a
standard (non-secure) FTP transmission is inbound,
you can choose to automatically reject it, or
automatically convert it to sFTP before allowing it
to enter your system
- Strong Encryption, multiple options – AES,
Triple DES (3DES), Blowfish, CAST, Diffie-Hellman
and more
The SSH module can also be used with 3rd
party FTP products, but configuration and maintenance are
much easier if you use nuBridges Exchange modules together.
This software is in production use for SSH-secured
file transfer by customers such as Discovery Channel
Consumer Products, H&R Block, Time Warner Cable and UBS
Securities. Contact nuBridges to
learn more – we’d be delighted to answer your questions
and show you the capabilities of nuBridges SSH software.
